I’m posting photos in the hope that it holds folk over until the video is posted. Please remember that the red lines are not imaginary. There must be force running through the lines and in such a way that they all have a triangular force relationship. That is, they are all interactive. Force added to one vertex is communicated to all others. To make this happen in the human body, slack must be taken out of the soft tissue that connects the bones.

These are some examples of force triangles that can be created and then manipulated in the body. A special thanks to Sy for patiently posing for these!

Thank you very much for this series! The images are helpful, and I’m looking forward to the video.

Does constructing force triangles in the body relate to the concept of expansion in six directions?

Also, I just happened to be watching Hai Yang’s introduction to Xingyi, and he demonstrates a stance practice involving creating multiple triangles in the body. Not that seeing similar principles in other arts is a surprise, but it was nice to see the connection. (Here is the video for anyone interested; the discussion of triangles starts at about 15:50: https://youtu.be/ljNkNRXgUw8?list=PLFlSvqfCTaVQjuPCUpQPT7_jEJ9oiquaI )

    Hi Raven,

I’m glad that you are finding the series interesting. I’ll be posting some more images that were sent to me by a TrueAiki reader depicting the movement of triangles. The holidays have delayed the production of the video, but hopefully we will film it in the near future.

Expansion in six directions is really foundational and fundamental. So, in that sense, it relates to everything. That having been said, I have to say that it does not directly relate to the formation of force triangles. 6 directions should be more of a constant state of being, while the formation of force triangles is more the result of something one does (with their state of being 😛 )

    Thanks for the feedback,

    Allen
